Glam Glow Super Range Review

Hello world! This is the review of the ever-so-popular, Glam Glow Supercleanse Daily Clearing Cleanser and Supermud Clearing Treatment.

First off, I’m so sorry for the lack of posting – I’ve been a bit busy with all my assignments and exams, but now I’m back and bringing you guys another review. I had a friend stay over recently, and she had quite problematic skin with severe acne. When I saw her Glam Glow products, I asked very politely if I could try it out for a couple of days. I’ve only ever tried to Glam Glow Thirsty Cleanse (AU$57) from the brand, so I was super keen to give their other products a go (especially their infamous masks)! My friend had in her cosmetics bag:

  • Glam Glow Supercleanse Daily Clearing Cleanser (AU$57)
  • Glam Glow Supermud Clearing Treatment ($98)

Upon first impression, the packaging looks sleek, clean and durable. It comes with lids so there is little chance of mess inside bags, luggage, etc. For some reason, the lid to the mask couldn’t screw on properly, no matter how hard I tried – not sure if that was my friend’s fault or the company’s. Both of these products have a very strong smell of licorice upon both opening, and application. These products are very expensive, especially the mask. Make sure you grab a sample of both products before you buy, just in case the formula isn’t suited to your skin type. Before I just into the review, a little bit of information about my skin type – combination skin with dry patches, little acne; I previously had extremely problematic skin with severe acne, but since that has cleared up, I mostly look for hydrating and anti-aging products.

Before I jump into the review, a little bit of information about my skin type – combination skin with dry patches, little acne; I previously had extremely problematic skin with severe acne, but since that has cleared up, I mostly look for hydrating and anti-aging products.

Now, onto the Glam Glow Supercleanse Daily Clearing Cleanser.

The Mecca online site describes it as:

A mud to foam cleanser that blends the power of mud and performance of foam for a unique cleansing experience. Essential cleanser to leave skin fresh, refined and impurity free.

Designed to remove excess oil, makeup and pore-clogging debris, this cleanser changes colour and transforms from a luxurious mud into a gentle, effective foam. The clay works to detoxify and refine skin texture whilst Bamboo Charcoal replenishes the skin. Suitable for men and women of all ages and skin types, the cleanser is also formulated with licorice root extract that helps to improve skin tone and calm irritated skin as well as black cumin seed extract; an antioxidant to protect from free-radical attacks.

This cleanser is super smooth with no abrasion or physical exfoliators what so ever, which is unlike my own Thirsty Cleanse. This consistency would be great for those with problematic skin who are afraid of harsh abrasion on a daily – like me!  My face is quite small and I use 1-2 pumps of cleanser for my entire face. The mud is quite spreadable, but at a point, it can become difficult to massage into the skin. At this moment, I apply water to cause it to foam up. I love foaming cleansers because it feels as though the skin is really getting a deep clean. There is a tingling feeling throughout the process which isn’t too irritating. It’s not at all hard to rinse off, and upon patting my skin dry, my skin feels super clean and bright and smooth. There is a slight tight feeling about my skin, but after applying moisturiser, this quickly goes away. I haven’t used this product consistently enough to comment on the anti-acne properties.

Now onto the Glam Glow Supermud Clearing Treatment.

A revolutionary treatment mask for problematic, congested and dull skin.

The World’s most Scientifically Advanced SUPERMUD Clearing Treatment. Clinically Developed by GLAMGLOW® Dermatological Chemist to help fight all common skin concerns for clearer looking skin. New technologies for deep pore extraction, to eliminate the look of pores and a Patent Pending release technology with real Eucalyptus Leaf in our formula for Magical Glowing Skin. SUPERMUD for the New Gorgeous You.

The mask has a wet, thick consistency with some chunks of I-don’t-know-what throughout it. However, it is still easy to apply a thin layer on the skin. The mask goes on dark grey and dries to a light grey. I leave the mask on for 20 mins.

The mask has a strong tingling feeling upon the skin, which was mildly irritating. When I first applied this, I thought it was damaging my skin, but I clenched my teeth and let is sit, and it gradually got better as the mask dried. I’m worried that for sensitive skin, this sensation would be too much.

It has an extremely tight feeling as the duration of the application goes on, but this is typical of all mud masks.

The biggest positive I have about this mask is its ability to draw out from pores, leaving visible pore marks as the mask dries. This made me feel as if it was deep cleaning my skin. It was also extremely satisfying to watch and look at.

My skin didn’t look or feel any different when I washed it off, but I did notice slightly less blackheads on my nose – not all were gone, however. My skin was definitely dry and tight afterwards, however, this went away after a thick hydrating moisturiser.

My friend’s overall opinion – Extremely drying – she used it without moisturiser and caused her skin to become itchy and flaky. This also caused more problems to arise on her skin. With moisturiser, she believes it has helped her improve her acne. She recommends to people of the same skin type and not those with dry skin.

My overall opinion – It felt like it was very deep cleaning. I would recommend to those with acne prone skin and clogged pores. I would not recommend it for those with dry skin, unless moisturiser is used afterwards. I would not recommend it for extremely sensitive skin. I believe it is not best suited for those of normal, non-problematic skin.

    I would rate this range a 3/5.

What did you personally use to clear up your acne? I definitely want to try this out! I’ve never had acne before, just the occasional spot here and there, but all of a sudden about 4 months ago I’ve started getting acne. Great post btw!

Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Oh no, I feel for you! What I strongly suggest is going to see your doctor. My mum really bugged me about going to see my GP about it, but I didn’t think it was that bad (although it actually was that bad). When I saw the doctor, he was super understanding and comforting and put me on an oral medication (i forgot the name!) and my skin cleared up right away! As for beauty products, I used The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil range, and I found that really helped with keeping my skin non-oily and clean. Let me know how it goes – sorry for the late reply!! xxxx
